Footfall Space finds venues around the UK for new — as well as established — artists and photographers to connect with a more democratic and diverse audience, usually in non-traditional spaces such as former office premises or vacant shops on the High Street.
An underused space within an existing business, a vacant floor, or even a blank wall, has the potential to become a tangible asset.. if put to use imaginatively.
Changing consumer behaviour, urban redevelopment, and the efforts of city and town centres to redefine themselves, all provide a golden opportunity to capitalise on empty units — or those awaiting a new, agreed purpose.
We hunt down these opportunities then introduce art and people into the equation and transform the envrironment.
This is the ‘space’ in which we operate.
For artists, it can be a challenge to get to exhibit in traditional galleries — programmes are often scheduled years in advance, often show only commissioned work, and can be very expensive.
Alternative and intriguing spaces — often available at much shorter notice for far less cost — benefit everyone: the artist, the property provider and the public.
